We escaped the small town life for a few day and headed for the Windy City!
We were busy gazing up at sky scrapers, riding trains, elevators, escalators and taxis, observing wild animals we only read about in books, watching the frogs, sharks and other amazing aquatic animals and hanging out as a family. We had a ball!
We departed via train for Chicago on Amelia's 2nd birthday or in her words "Cago, Mousey's birfday, choo choo Thomas" and it was the most amazing birthday present. On the way home, Ben announced that he was thinking of where he wanted to head for his birthday. Uh oh!! Possibly we've started a wonderful new tradition....
Once we returned home (to our newly finished house!!!) we celebrated Amelia's birthday with family and dear friends with a little party at home. The theme was dress-up and you'll be happy to know that great minds really DO think alike. Our little princess fairy received two sets of fairy wings and fairy skirts (each of which were hand made!) by her grandmas!
First moments on the train, blankie always close at hand.
I love watching the three of them together. Their daddy is definitely their real-life super hero!
First views of the city, can you see the wonder?!
It was one of those "take your breath away mama moments". It's so awesome to watch these little people experience all of those "firsts".
Our own little fish - so proud!!
"Fork Sticks", better known as chop sticks!
Birthday celebration one. Pineapple with sparklers - quite the hit!
Mesmerized at the aquarium.
Birthday celebration two - courtesy of our dear friends the Comstocks.
He looked all to comfortable strolling down Michigan Ave. with his Starbucks in hand!
Pictures are worth 1000 words... Happy Birthday baby girl, you light up our life!
Waiting with great anticipation for the requested purple cake.
Getting a little help with the candles.
